About Our Founder

Alicia L. Thomas, DrPH, MHS

Dr. Thomas is a detail-oriented and agile professional who boasts over twenty years of comprehensive experience in the field of public health. Her expertise spans various areas, including policy development, leadership, health services management, and patient-centered outcomes research. She has also led in both a direct funder capacity for over a decade, and in research and advisory roles for other philanthropic organizations and corporate giving bodies. She has consistently demonstrated an ability to identify and develop innovative solutions for complex and unusual challenges that arise in this dynamic field. 

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Thomas has successfully convened and led diverse stakeholders, fostering collaborative and strategic partnerships that drive impactful results. Additionally, she is recognized for her thought leadership in several critical areas, including community health policies and programs, health equity/disparities, women's reproductive health, and the social determinants of health. Dr. Thomas's work across these topical areas has positioned her to serve as a key contributor to efforts to advance public health and health outcomes, especially for the most vulnerable populations and communities in need.

Dr. Thomas has a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also holds a Master of Health Science (MHS) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health), with a concentration in reproductive, perinatal, and women’s health. She also earned a DrPH, with concentrations in health disparities/equity, and maternal and child health, from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
